Andreas Richter has been a partner of Blumenthal Richter & Sumet since 1996 and has been managing partner since 1999. He works on a broad range of foreign investment and development projects in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Andreas has extensive experience in advising SMEs and multi-national companies and knows their different risk profiles and commercial needs. Andreas has worked both as a team member and a team leader on the preparation, negotiation and implementation of numerous projects in the region, including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters.

Andreas represents clients in complex investment and commercial transactions and regularly provides specialist advice to leading European and Japanese law firms. His experience in Thailand includes representation of clients in the automotive, hospitality and financial services sector, as well as industrial manufacturing, intellectual property, chemical products and construction.

Andreas is a German national. He is fluent in German, English and speaks conversational Thai. Andreas obtained his law degree from the University of Hamburg and is a member of the Hamburg Bar Association and the Inter Pacific Bar Association.

Andreas is a director of Interlaw, as association of 67 independent law firms in 120 cities worldwide, where he is representing the Asia-Pacific region and is currently also serving on the Board of Directors of the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok.

Ira has been a partner with Blumenthal Richter & Sumet since 1996. He practices principally in broad based foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate matters in Thailand, as well as the rest of Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Blumenthal Richter & Sumet, Ira was an associate with a large Thai law firm. He has been a resident in Thailand since 1994 and has handled projects in Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia. Ira speaks near fluent Thai.

His industry experience includes automotive, chemical, minerals, internet related projects, hotel and hospitality, manufacturing, real estate and technology.

Ira received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He received his B.A., with honors, in finance from Baruch College, where he also received a four-year full tuition scholarship. Ira is a member of the New York State Bar of The Inter Pacific Bar Association.

Sumet has been a partner at Blumenthal Richter & Sumet since 1998. He was an associate with the firm since 1993. Sumet provides a full range of legal services in connection with foreign investment and commercial matters in Thailand.

Prior to joining Blumenthal Richter & Sumet, Sumet worked at several local Thai law firms. He has a wide range of experience dealing with various Thai administrative agencies, including but not limited to, the Ministry of Commerce, Land Department, Board of Investment and Labor Department.

Sumet’s experience includes representing multi-national companies in lobbying various Thai authorities on foreign investment approvals and other regulatory matters, due diligence and structuring, negotiating and documenting international joint ventures, acquisitions and obtaining Board of Investment promotion for foreign companies doing business in Thailand.

Sumet received his LLB from Chulalongkorn University in 1990. He is a member of the Bar Association of Thailand, the Law Society of Thailand of the Inter Pacific Bar Association.

Prior to joining BRS, John was an attorney at Minter Ellison practicing out of the firm's Bangkok offices in the corporate practice group. Prior to joining Minter Ellison, John was Vice President/General Counsel of WHEREVER.net Holding Corporation (a NASDAQ listed telecom company based in Hong Kong), and was an associate for the East West International Law Offices in Taipei, Taiwan from 1996-1999. John practices in the areas of Information Technology (IT Outsourcing, Software Licensing, Cloud Services), Power & Energy: Gas Fired & Nuclear Stations (Greenfield Projects, PPAs, FSAs, EPC, O&M Agreements) Telecommunications (Licensing & Transactions), Regulatory Compliance, Due Diligence, Employment Law, General Corporate, and general commercial agreements with jurisdiction experience covering Thailand, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Laos.
